What is intellectual property?

Intellectual property, or IP as it is often called, is something created using your mind. For example, a story, an invention, a piece of art or a logo.

Infringement of intellectual property will occur when IP rights are copied, used or otherwise exploited without the permission or consent of the person who owns the intellectual property rights. For example, if someone uses another business’ name or logo on products without the owner’s consent, this is likely to constitute an IP infringement.
